The rules for using BetterPixels — how the upscaling proxy may be used, how credits and billing work, and the limits of our liability.

BetterPixels is an edge image-upscaling proxy: you build a model chain in the Playground, save it as a preset, and your backend triggers upscales of remote images it supplies. These terms explain who may use it, what's prohibited, how billing works, and how the service is provided.
The agreement
Binding contract
These terms form a binding agreement between you and BetterPixels when you create an account or use the service. If you're accepting on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to do so.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a contract. The service is intended for developers and businesses integrating image upscaling into their own products.
Account security
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials and your serve-API secret confidential, and for all activity that happens under them. Treat the serve-API secret like a password — it spends your credits.
The service
What we provide
A hosted pipeline that upscales images through a chain of models you configure, plus a headless serve API that turns a saved preset into cached, content-addressed images of remote sources you supply.
Two surfaces
The serve API has a private trigger (POST /upscale, authenticated with your app secret, which spends a credit and enqueues work) and a public delivery surface (GET on a content-addressed URL, which only ever returns precomputed bytes and never spends credits). Keep your secret on your backend.
Changes and availability
We aim for reliable service but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, add, or remove features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can. Some features may be labeled beta and change without notice.
Acceptable use of the serve API
You provide the source
When you trigger an upscale, you supply the source image by URL. You are responsible for that source: you must have the right to fetch, process, and serve it, and it must come from a public host you're permitted to read from.
No infringing or unlawful sources
Do not point the serve API at images you don't have the rights to — copyrighted material you don't own or license, private data, or anything whose processing would violate law or a third party's rights.
No abusive or illegal content
Do not use the service to process, generate, or distribute illegal content, content that sexualizes minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or material that harasses, defames, or endangers others.
No infrastructure abuse
Do not use the service to attack, overload, scrape, or probe infrastructure — ours or anyone else's. Don't point the source fetcher at internal or private network addresses; the fetcher refuses non-public hosts, and attempts to bypass that are a violation.
No resale of raw capacity
You may build products on top of BetterPixels, but you may not resell raw upscale capacity as a competing pass-through proxy without a separate agreement.
Your content and our rights
You keep your rights
You retain all rights to the images you upload and the sources you supply. We don't claim ownership of your content or your presets.
License to operate
You grant us the limited rights we need to fetch, process, cache, and serve your content so the service can function — for example, storing the upscaled result so later requests are cache hits.
Our platform
The BetterPixels product, brand, code, model pipeline, and design remain ours or our licensors'. These terms don't transfer any of that to you.
Feedback
If you send us product feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the service without obligation to you.
Credits, billing, and refunds
Metered on unique transforms
You're billed for the work the GPU actually does: a given source-plus-preset is rendered exactly once and then cached. Every later request for that same content is a cache hit and costs nothing. You pay for unique transforms, not for traffic served.
Credits and payment
Paid usage runs on credits. Payments are processed by Stripe; we don't store your full card number. Plan, credit pricing, and any included allowance are shown at purchase and may change with notice for future purchases.
Charges are final on render
A credit is spent when a trigger claims a unique transform and enqueues the render. Because results are content-addressed and deduplicated, repeated triggers for identical content collapse to a single charge.
Refunds
Credits already spent on completed renders are non-refundable. If a render fails on our side, we don't charge for it — or we credit it back if it was already counted. For a billing problem, contact us before initiating a chargeback so we can resolve it directly.
AI output and model behavior
Best-effort results
Upscaling and restoration are probabilistic. Output quality varies by model, source, and settings, and may include artifacts or unexpected results. We don't guarantee any specific visual outcome.
Your review
You're responsible for reviewing output before you publish or rely on it. Don't use the service where an incorrect or imperfect result could cause harm without human review.
Termination and liability
Ending the agreement
You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable; serious abuse may warrant immediate action.
Effect of termination
On termination your right to use the service ends. Cached assets and stored data are removed in line with our Privacy Policy's retention rules.
Provided as-is
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as-is, without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to cover claims arising from your content, the sources you supply, or your misuse of the service in breach of these terms.
General
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law, unless a mandatory local consumer-protection law says otherwise.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms; we'll notify you of material changes where appropriate. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Severability
If one provision is unenforceable, the rest still apply. Not enforcing a provision once doesn't waive it later.
Entire agreement
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and BetterPixels for the service.
